FAQ
- Are API credits the same as Throk subscription credits?
- No. The developer platform has its own API plans and credits, completely separate from the Free / Creator / Creator+ web plans, and the two can't be mixed. You subscribe to an API plan in the developer console.
- Is there a free tier? How is it priced?
- API access has no free tier. Plans differ by monthly credits, from API Lite (15,000 credits/month) to Premium (6,000,000 credits/month). Pick one in the developer console.
- When do credits expire?
- Credits are valid for one month from purchase, and unused credits don't roll over. If you need more, upgrade or buy a one-off top-up at your plan's rate (API Standard US$10, Plus US$5, Premium US$4 per 10,000 credits). Top-ups reset when the current billing cycle ends.
- MCP or REST? Which clients are supported?
- Use MCP when an AI agent will do the work: Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and other clients connect with one command. Use REST to call it straight from your own service. Every feature is available through both.
- What data does it cover?
- Public Threads posts: keyword search, trending rankings, keyword trends, user profiles and follower history, for the Chinese (Taiwan, Hong Kong), Japanese and Korean markets. Posts in other languages, including English, aren't covered.
- How do I get started?
- Sign up at developer.throk.ai, create an API key, pick a plan and start making calls. For MCP you can skip the key and sign in with your Throk account instead.
